Maxilead Membership

Why should you get a Maxilead Membership card?

If you’re involved with the scrap metal industry in any way, you will probably know of changes to legislation.

In 2012, the government made it illegal to buy scrap metal for cash anywhere in the UK. This is because unfortunately, there are many thieves operating in the scrap metal industry. In fact, metal theft costs the UK a huge £770 million each year.

So now, paying for any amount of scrap metal with cash counts as a criminal offence and can result in fines of up to £5,000.

Since the new law has been brought in, scrap metal theft has dropped by a third.

The scrap metal industry is worth over £5 billion annually, and employs thousands of hard-working people in the UK.

If you would like to sell any scrap metal to us, we need to see ID in the form of:

  • UK Photocard driving license
  • UK Passport & a utility bill which shows your address

Maxilead Metals fully supports the decision to criminalise paying for scrap metal with cash, but we know how annoying it can be to have to take your ID with you every time you weigh in. That’s why back in 2012 we introduced the Maxilead membership scheme. Our scheme now has over 11,000 members and with over 200 people using their membership cards daily, it’s safe to say it works!

The Maxilead membership scheme not only makes your “weigh in” hassle free, it means that you’ll get the exclusive benefit of being guaranteed our best possible prices on all grades.

We give you the choice of 4 payments with a quick turnaround at our payment windows.
