Why should you sell your farm scrap metal?
You could be surprised at the amount of value the scrap metal you have stored away holds.
Chances are, some of the scrap farm machine parts that are just sitting there were made decades ago in the 1950s and 1960s, prior to the modernisation of farming equipment in the 21st century.
It wasn’t unheard of for farming equipment years ago to weigh several tonnes. Nowadays, machinery used on farms tends to be much more lightweight. That’s why it’s the old machines that are worth a lot of money as scrap, possibly even more than you might think!
Did you know… many farmers choose to leave their scrap machinery on the field where it broke down. This not only exposes the scrap metal to the elements, but is also harmful to the environment.
What types of farm equipment can be recycled?
Here at Maxilead Metals, we recycle a wide range of farm scrap metal, including:
- Hog oilers
- Flails
- Traction engines
- Ploughing engines
- Threshing machines
- Drag harrows
This list is by no means exhaustive, so get in touch if you’re unsure whether or not your scrap is recyclable.
