You may have heard that we held a golf charity event in August. The event was a blinding success, with a great turnout and just over £8,000 raised. This fantastic amount exceeded our expectations, and we’re delighted and honoured to be able to make a difference in the community.
The money we raised was split between two charities – the Steve Prescott Foundation and the British Red Cross’ We Love Manchester Fund. With the recent tragic events that have occurred in Manchester, it only seemed right that we do our bit and fundraise to help the families of those affected. These two fantastic causes are close to our hearts here at Maxilead, and we’re over the moon that so many of you joined us to fundraise for these issues that touch so many lives.
As most of you know, Ruby and her husband Ste will be climbing Kilimanjaro to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation. You can sponsor her on this amazing challenge here.
The event was attended by over 100 people, and included a variety of competitions throughout the day, including the Maxilead Metals Chipping Challenge. This more-difficult-than-it-looks challenge saw challengers trying to get the balls into a mini skip – laughs were had and frustrations were endured, but a fabulous time was had by all. There were a range of prizes given away, including a TomTom Golfer 2 GPS Watch and a golfing trip to the Algarve!
Local band Stillia (give them a listen, they’re really good!), performed at the event. The band hails from St Helens, and are currently touring the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
We had a wonderful time in the evening – with entertainment and opportunities for guests to mingle.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the businesses involved in this event, as well as everyone who attended and made this a day to remember! Here are some of the photos taken during the day and evening – well done everyone!
