For people who weigh in regularly, you will be aware of a new law that has come into place. As of the 9th May 2012 it is a legal requirement to take photo id of any persons disposing of scrap and of 3rd December 2012 it is illegal to buy scrap metal for cash.
We require ID in the form of:
- UK Photocard Driving Licence
- UK Passport & Utility Bill which shows address
To prevent having to show your ID each time you visit the yard, on your next visit we will sign you up to the Maxilead Membership scheme. All you need to do is bring your photo ID (as listed above). It takes under a minute to sign you up, then you will be issued with your very own Maxilead Membership card on the spot (as pictured.)
By using this card everytime you weigh in you will be trading your scrap metal legally and in the easiest way!!

As you are probably aware, the Cash Ban came into effect from 3rd December 2012, which means that everyone in the industry can no longer pay cash for scrap metal.
To make things a little easier Maxilead now give you the choice and offer speedy, easy access payments with a quick turnaround at our payment windows!
At Maxilead you can choose one of the following fast and effective methods of payment:
CHEQUE
A normal cheque payment printed on the day to take away with you.
BANK TRANSFER
A next day transfer made directly to your specified bank account. Funds will be available for use the next day.
VISA DEBIT CARD
For this payment you must have a VISA DEBIT CARD. Payments made to your card are subject to a delay of up to 2 working days.
BANK TRANSFER FASTER PAY
A transfer made directly to your specified bank account where funds are usually available in less than 15 minutes, but depending on bank process, it may take up to 2 hours. There will be a charge of £2.50 associated with this process.
